Currently, high SDI countries export a lot of hazardous waste to low SDI countries. What, if anything, should be done about this? What might be the consequences (such as economic, political, or cultural) of that choice? (If helpful, pick a specific example of a hazardous waste (such as used motor oil) to explain your answers.)

exporting hazardous waste to countries with low sdi countries or the countries which are under developed and developing in nature is like throwing curse to them.

hazardous waste it can be medical, nuclear and e-waste when developed countries are not able to get rid of them they send it to countries which are poor or are in need of money, they send there hazardous waste to countries of africa as well as to india, which is like infecting a country from cancer. for safety and well being of ones own country it is not advisable and acceptable to get it disposed in any other country which is not concern about what damage they are doing by letting that in there country.

things that i consider that should be done for disposing of hazardous waste are:

1: a tribunal or monitoring agency should be made by united nations to check over this ill practice of disposing off the waste to other countries.

2: prior permission has to be taken from the organisation and limit of waste export should be there.

3:there should be annual audit of the impact of these hazardous waste to that of the environment of the importer country.

4: the exporter and importer country both should work together to make the contamination from the waste to minimum level.   

economic consequences: countries exporting the waste saves a lot of labour and money and they get safety from future contamination same is with the importer country they get monetary help from the high sdi country.

in case the waste pollutants contaminate the ground water and affects the health of people in vicinity then the trust of investors in the country will be reduced as such reports can malign the image of country and can lead to less investment.

political consequences: there can be a movement get started against the government involved in such practices which in turn can destabilize the government as the opposition parties will seek support from the people who are opposing it,leading to political destabilization and havoc. due to pollution from nuclear waste disposed by indian government in its one of its state rajasathan a lot of oppose was done by people and the regional political parties , for there safety and well being.

cultural consequences: there can be possibility that the site chosen for waste dumping has specific community of people living, if the project has to be made there then people would have to leave the place and are to be shifted to new place which in turn will ruin there culture and connections.
