Question

Rank the acids in increasing acidity.

IN 0 H-IN

a b c d e

I do not know the answer.

My guess is e > c > a > d > b

reason: since this is positively charged, I thought that stabilizing the positive charge will lead to a stronger acid. I did not think about the conjugate bases. So, since lower electronegativity atom will stabilize the positive charge more, c and e would be the most acidic since N is less electronegative than O. Between C and E, E has the inductive effect which will stabilize the positive charge by the electron-rich group of F, so E is the most stable.

between A, B, and D, A is the most acidic because it has the sp2 nearer to O atom. (sp2 stabilizes positive charge than sp)

hence it is E > C > A > D > B...

Are my answer and reasonings correct?

Thank you

Answer #1

Ans : C > B > E > B > A > D.

Reason : electron donating groups or increasing the acidity will increase.

here the CH3 group is heighly +inductive effect this will donate the possitive electronic specious for stabilisation.

A covalent bond is a bond in which electrons are shared between atoms of elements. A covalent bond can be polar or nonpolar. In a nonpolar covalent bond, the bond is between two identical atoms and the electrons are evenly shared between the atoms. In contrast, in a polar covalent bond, the bond is between two nonidentical atoms and the electrons are unevenly shared between the atoms. The uneven sharing of electrons takes place because of the difference in the electronegativity...
