Answer #1

Facilitated Diffusion is the passive transport of molecules or ions across a membrane with the help of a trans-membrane carrier protein or protein or ion channels across the membrane. Since it is a passive transport, there is no requirement of any chemical energy from ATP hydrolysis.

Using these carrier proteins for the individual molecules, the molecules or ions, i.e., solute are transported down their concentration gradient across a cellular membrane boundary.
