  1. What percentage of the students is shorter than 135 cm?
  1. What is the probability that the height of a randomly selected student would be greater than 132 cm but less than 138 cm?
  1. How many fourth-grade students are represented in the data?
  1. What is the mean height of the data set?

Answer #1

a)

percentage of the students is shorter than 135 cm =(76/121)*100 =62.81% (as 76 out of 121 have height less than 135)

b)

probability that the height of a randomly selected student would be greater than 132 cm but less than 138 cm

=(98/121)*100 =80.99%

c)

How many fourth-grade students are represented in the data =121

d)

Height (cm) (h) Frequency(f) h*f
130 2 260
131 7 917
132 9 1188
133 20 2660
134 38 5092
135 18 2430
136 12 1632
137 10 1370
138 5 690
total 121 16239

mean height of the data set =16239/121 =134.2066

e)

YEs as data is approximate symmetric and unimodal

Suppose a researcher believes that the average height of female students in a large local high school is 140 cm. The researcher wants to construct an interval that contains the true average height of all female students in the local high school with a certain prespecified probability. The researcher selects 36 female students at random from the high school. The distribution of heights is known to follow a normal distribution. Suppose a researcher believes that the average height of female...

The subjects in the data are college students. In the data, id is student ID, anxiety is student’s anxiety score via Anxiety Scale, selfest is student’s self-esteem score via Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, GPA is student’s GPA; for gender, 0=female, 1=male; for grade, 1=freshman, 2=junior, 3=senior. We have known that population mean for Anxiety Scale is μ=60 with σ=10. Raise relevant questions ( 2 questions is fine) about the data extensively, the questions can be either about descriptive analysis or inferential...
