How do I get the 209.53? (I always go on Data Analysis - Exponential Smoothing - Damping Factor 0.6) However I never get the last number...can you maybe help me how to solve it?
When you are selecting the input range, select one additional row after the last row. In this manner you will get last number as 209.53. I have shown how you can do it in MS Excel using step by step screenshot.
In this case, W = 0.4 so Dampening Factor = 1 - 0.4 = 0.6
1. Following is data provided
2. Select Exponential Smoothing from Data analysis dialog box and click Ok.
3. In Exponential Smoothing Dialog Box fill value as shown in screenshot below and click Ok
Please note that here in input range instead of selecting rows from B1 to B9, you should select rows from B1 to B10. In other words, you need to select one additional row. This way you will obtain the last number.
Following is the output that you will obtain:
Check the highlighted value, it is same value that you mentioned 209.53.

The model specifies that sales, S, vary jointly with disposable personal income, Y, and the population between ages 15 and 40,Z, and inversely with the price of the snowmobiles, P. Based on past data, the best estimate of this relationship is: where k has been estimated (from past data) to equal 100 If Y $13,000, Z- $1,200, and P...
