Logarithm converts multiplication into addition, and division into subtraction. From analysis point of view, dealing with addition and subtraction is much easier as compare to dealing with multiplication and division.

So, yes, logarithms transforms .

Laplace transform only works with LTI (Limear time invariant )system because Laplace transform of output in the LTI system is the multiplication of Laplace transform of input and Laplace transform of impulse response of system, this is due to the property of convolution

And convolution is applicable only to LTI system.
