In general, the law and ethics overlap each other. But, on certain circumstances, they contradict each other. Martha Stewart’s case deemed to practice of insider trading which might be ethical personally by unethical practice as per law.
Through Martha Stewart’s case, the entire community had seen the charges and consequences an individual had to face if the law was violated. So the restorative process i.e. the judgment on this case would significantly reduce insider trading, false commitments, conspiracy and obstruction to justice in SEC.

It is crime ultimately whether it is big or small. And, every crime is subjected to obtain equivalent punishment as per law, no matter who carried out an i.e. white colour employee or blue colour employee. So restorative approach should be amenable else justice will not prevail in law amended further, if there is no justice in law then there won’t be order in a nation.
