Visitor from Con Ed from a galaxy far away have placed a large
(black) ring of wire in the arctic circle around the geographic
north pole of the earth.
Now they are reducing the earth's magnetic field (but not changing
its sign) to induce electric current in their large ring of wire.
As seen from far above the north pole of the earth,
is their current flowing CLOCKWISE or COUNTER-CLOCKWISE?
Because magnetic field is decreasing therefore the current induced in the rings tries to increase the magnetic field hence the current flows in the ring so that magnetic field produced by ring will be in same direction as that of earths magnetic field. This could only be possible if the current is flowing clockwise in the ring when seen far above the North Pole of the earth.
