Pay per performance is a value-based payment method and that can be effectively used in a healthcare field. The provider will be rewarded according to their performance. These value-based healthcare systems are rapidly increasing in Kerala, our state. The outcome-based method is used in Kerala. This new system is introduced to increase the quality and overall efficiency in healthcare organizations. The quality measurements are done in four methods. They are,

1.process based

2.outcome based

3.patient experience based

4.structure based

Advantages

1.Increases quality, efficiency and overall value of healthcare system.

2. It can motivate employees if they get more payment for good performance.

3. Healthy performance-based culture can be developed

Disadvantages

1. Team spirit and co-ordination may reduce because the workers will concentrate on individual performance.

2. Too many processes in performance measure can adversely affect the provider.

3. Sometimes the goals to be achieved is too hard for the provider.

TELEMEDICINE

Telemedicine has emerged as part of the advanced technologies. It will use computers or smartphones to communicate with a patient who may be in a remote location to provide healthcare instructions. It is very useful in post-treatment follow-ups and short-term medical prescriptions. Telemedicine is considered as the future of the healthcare industry.

Barriers

1. High chance of fraud calls and abuse.

2. Trust of patients in virtual healthcare model.

3. The high cost of replacing the older technology with telemedicine technology.
