  1. ). A wind turbine in the hurricane region has not been destroyed by the storm. If boundary layer winds were approximately the same speed as that calculated in question 4, would this turbine be able to produce energy? Why or why not?

b). Normally (i.e. not in a hurricane) this large turbine, which sweeps out an area of 7.5 m2, operates in typical local winds of 12 km/hr at an air density of 1.2 kg/m3. Roughly how much power would you expect this turbine to generate in regular conditions?

Answer #1

A) If the turbine survive during the hurricane than it will produce emance energy during the hurricane because the energy produce by turbine is directly proportional to the wind speed if the wind speed is greater than 12 m/s.
