1. What effect has ACA had on stakeholders?
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) effectively implemented in March 23 2010 has had many impacts since the re-election of President Barrack Obama in 2013 which caused major changes in health industry for major stockholders namely, consumers, employers, states and health care providers.
Consumers: There has been considerable decrease in the uninsured younger population since 2013 according to congressional Budget Office. As a result, consumers may aim at marketing health insurance among younger generation.
Employers: For employers, according to ACA , it requires companies with more than 50 workers to provide insurance to workers who work for more than 30 hours per week.
States: According to ACA, states have the right to decide whether to accept or to refuse the federal funds for the improvements with regard to the state medicaid programmes.
Health Care Providers: After implementing ACA, more importance is given to quality of health care with lower cost. In addition, physicians also provide primary care services with a guaranteed re-imbursements by Medicaid Services being rendered. Also, primary care physicians will get 10% bonus payment on top of existing medicare services.
