FORUM DESCRIPTION Jacob Shulz is 70 years old and has been treated for colon cancer that now has spread to his liver and pancreas. He has had surgery to remove part of his colon and part of his liver. He has finished with chemotherapy, but the cancer rages on. What care is likely to be suggested by the oncologist? Will pain and discomfort be a problem? (You might want to refer to Chapters 2, 3, and 5.) What information might be helpful to Jacob and his family?

The patient is in stage 4 where metastasis occurred to distant organ usually chemotherapy before and after surgery is recommended.

Here the patients cancer rages on .At this point the patient will experience severe pain.The following management and patient and relative awareness is necessary

  • Effective pain management
  • Disturbance in bowel pattern to be addressed
  • Monitor blood sugar level because camp has spread to pancreas
  • Changes in the metabolism level
  • Nausea,vomiting to be reported
  • Color of stool to be noted
  • Diversional therapy
