RFC 791: Internet protocol: The internet protocol is mainly designed to connect to the internet. This is a host to host protocol through which a device can able to connect to the public network. This protocol uses the local network protocol in order to carry the Internet gateway to a next gateway.

RFC 792: Internet control message protocol: This protocol helps in checking whether a connection is able to established or not. Through this the connection is also tested between the host and the destination.
