What are workplaces policies and procedures?
Policies is defined as a set of behavior and output component to be followed by all employees in an organization.Policies act as a back bone of an organization. It is more of flexible in nature. The elements in policy format are goals, plan and actions.
Procedures are a series of steps framed to make the employee to perform inorder to attain goal. Procedures are more rigid with strict rules and time constraints. The elements in procedure format includes education and enforcement.
Workplaces policies :
1) Code of conduct: Hospital professionals should follow set of behavior and attitudes formulates by the hospital management is called as code of conduct.
2) Infection control policy : It focussed on reducing infection rate related morbidity and mortality in the hospital. All health care employees must develop adherence to infection control policy by following universal standard precautions like hand washing, gowning, masking, gloving.
3) Antibiotic policy : Most organisms causing lethal infections need to be treated with antibiotics. Usage of Antibiotic helps to reduce antibiotic resistant.
4) Smoking policy : Hospitals and it's environment must be free of smoke. Smoking is strictly prohibited within the hospital premises.
WORK PLACE PROCEDURES:
1) Needle stick injury : Health workers handling patients are at high risk for needle needl injury. Hospital policy states not to recap the needle, discarding needles in puncture proof containers, post exposure prophylaxis to prevent blood borne infections.
