When small amounts of a strong acid or a strong base was added to the buffer solution, its pH won't get affected.

Explanation: According to the definition, a solution which resists the change in pH by the addition of a small amount of strong acid or strong base or upon dilution.

Question 2 (for both sections).

When the amount of 0.25 M NaOH (in the case of acidic buffer) or 0.25 M HCl (in the case of basic buffer) used to prepare the buffer was decreased, its pH decreases (in the case of acidic buffer) or increases (in the case of basic buffer).

Explanation: When the molar concentration of base, used to prepare the acidic buffer, is decreased then a high amount of weak acid remains in the solution. As a result, the pH of the buffer decreases.

When the molar concentration of acid, used to prepare the basic buffer, is decreased then a high amount of weak base remains in the solution. As a result, the pH of the buffer increases.
