de Broglie’s reasoning led to the conclusion that waves can behave like particles and particles can exhibit wavelike properties. de Broglie deduced that the particle and wave properties are related by the expression

          λ = h/mv, Where λ, m and v are the wave length associated with a moving particle, its mass, and its velocity respectively. The above equation implies that a particle in motion can be treated as a wave, and a wave can exhibit the properties of a particle. We note that the left side of the equation involves the wavelike property of wavelength, whereas the right side makes references to mass and velocity of the particle which are distinctly the properties of a particle.
