Different companies use different ways to lead the people. They may delegate responsibilities at different levels, allow the employees to share their ideas for the company’s success, allow the employees to undertake risky projects, hone the skills of their employees, etcetera.

For instance, many large established firms like Harley-Davidson engage in sharing of information with their employees. They try to inculcate trust in the employees by being honestly and systematically disclosing information.

The role of the management is to get the work done in a cost-effective manner. The best example of it would be that some firms follow daily deadlines, some weekly deadlines, and still other follow monthly deadlines. Another stark difference is that some managers may follow target-based deadlines, and some may follow time-based deadlines.

For instance, some managers may expect the employees to complete a definite number of tasks in a day and some managers may expect the employees to contribute a definite number of hours in a day.

The differences might occur due to differing goals of the companies, difference in the products they are offering, difference in the production techniques followed, difference in the skills required, etcetera.
