1 Butene on reaction with H+/H2O gives 2 butanol is a major product and 1 Butanol is minor product.The addition of H+ takes place via Markovnikoffs rule Wich states that in addition reaction hydrogen atom attached to the carbon that have more number of hydrogen atoms.
In 1 st reaction hydrogen attaching to the carbon Wich contain greatest no of hydrogen atom forms secondary carbocation. Which then addition of H2O forms 2 butanol is the major product.
In 2 nd reaction hydrogen attaching to the carbon that attaching less number of hydrogen atoms forms primary carbocation which is least stable . Which on addition of H2O molecule forms 1 Butanol is minor product
