Objective- Cultivate and develop lean thinking practices
The report shall briefly cover:
-Overview
-Road map
-Recommendation
-Conclusion
Overview:
Lean thinking basically deals with waste management and waste reduction. The 7 wastes evidently include Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Over processing, Over production and Defects.
However, initial observation in the plant suggest that before motaking a big leap, a ground zero step needs to be focused.
To move forward towards Lean, lean basics should be met fundamentally. 5S - everything in place, place for everything. This system can be implemented in a 2 month timeline-
Sort (14 days) - determine necessary objects, remove extra items
Set (21 days)- determine place for everything
Shine (7 days) - Cleanliness and orderliness
Standardize (7 days)- monitor need for change, if any, freeze the system
Sustain (7 days)- Maintain system
It is also evident that major development of 7 Lean waste reduction in form of Muda & Muri will reduce by second step of 5S (2S)
Once the workshop and workflow is determined, streamlined, it is equally necessary for product to perform in market. A parallel exercise to be covered for 4P :-
Product - Place - Price - Promotion
Lean tools:-
Pareto chart for defects and quality losses are clear indicators of major defect contributors.
Value stream Mapping to streamline production flow and reduce waiting time and control inventory as well.
String diagram is a helpful tool to map the distance travelled by any product. Thus String diagram can be used to further reduce traveling distance.
Recommendation:
1. It is highly recommended that multiple cross functional teams to be formed for 5S implementation initially and parallel market capturing through product.
2. Weekly monitoring of timeline and progress accordingly.
Conclusion:-
Preliminary report is shared on implementation of leam thinking. The company may reach an atleast of 6 months to rrach a significant progress visible in Lean direction.

Performance Improvement programs and effective project management require an understanding of the four phases of the project life-cycle: initiation, planning, execution/implementation, and closure. It is important to have each phase of the project mapped on a timeline and to be sure the project team has the appropriate members with the right skills to ensure a successful program. Using a case study from the text, students will demonstrate their ability to review and evaluate a performance improvement program by arranging the...
