Not only doctors or surgeons there are some standard of care a professional nurse has to fulfill.negligence of meeting such standards may leads to medical malpractice.There are four elements of medical malpractice that must be met, to charge a lawsuit against a nurse.
They are;
1.when patient is admitted to the hospital ,there are some responsibility towards them.nurse has to follow physician's order to maintain a safe environment for the patient.
2.breach of duty
If the nurse has not been met her duty, like forget to raise side rails and patient falls down or forget to provide medicine on time and patient become sick. Thus failure to provide safe environment is a breach of duty .
3.Damages
If breach of duty causes any injury that result damages.That means , injury due to fall from bed that can be claimed.
4.causation
In the above case, the cause is breach of duty. Otherwise, patient wouldn't fallen.
