Answer #1

1. Time to row across for C is less than for J since the horizontal component of C will be greater than that of J.

2. The distance traveled in crossing for D is less than for J because in case of D, the vertical component of D and river are in opposite direction while in case of J, the vertical components add up and therefore more distance is traveled in this case.

3. Time to row across for F is less than D since horizontal component of F is greater than D. Time to cross is calculated by horizontal component.

4.Time to cross for J is equal to D since horizontal component is same in both the cases.

5.For an observer on shore, the speed of the boat for J is greater than for C because J makes a smaller angle with the velocity of river.
