The mass of a piece of metal at 165.6 K was found to be 34.0 grams. What is the density of the metal (in g/mL) if it occupies a volume of 6.4 mL? (I don't understand how the temperature relates to the density)

If mass and volume are both known, we can use:

Density = mass / volume.

Volume changes with temperature. So, if volume was not given, we would use temperature to calculate it.

Here:

Density = mass/. Volume

= 34.0 g / 6.4 mL

= 5.3 g/mL

Answer: 5.3 g/mL
