Numerous concepts in the context of methodology are difficult to pin down to a
particular, unequivocal and constant meaning. Same thing goes for the
implications of certain stances one takes on ontology and epistemology, and the
methodological consequences these decisions and convictions have. How can
one best explain this?
a) This is just impossible to explain or even arrive at a tentative explanation for.
b) There is a widespread conspiracy in the academic community to subvert
and spread misinformation so that academics can retain their oracle-like
status in society.
c) Method is just a tricky subject.
d) The definitions and implications of numerous philosophical issues pertaining
to methods are contested and debated, it is up to me as a student to form
my own convictions on ontology, epistemology and how to interpret and
implement these ideas in how I apply method in research.

Ontology is the way one view the truth. Based on this a person forms his/her epistemological views. Based on this, they form their methods for research. Considering this, one should first form his/her own conviction on ontology and epistemology before deciding on the research method.
