Medication order:

Following medication rights simple avoids medication error

Right Patient : check by calling, ID band always to confirm

Right Drug: Check the brand name and generic name and its because brand name may change but the generic name will not change stands the same worldwide.

Right route:This is very important change of route may cause fatal effects or adverse reaction immediately or no action at all( oral, IV,IM,SC,ID,Intrathecal)

Right dose: Dosage varies according to age,weight ,medical illness or metabolic absorption .Increasing ,Decreasing or overdose may lead to side effects ormilligrkg(1(th with addiction in later life

Right frequency: Certain drugs has to be given only once and cannot be repeated ,SOS drug when necessary, Stat: at once ,OD,BID,TID,QID.once a week drug .cannot be changed without physician order.

Right time and date:

This is to be followed because certain drugs are given before food,after food and along with food.Entering date helps to know the duration or the course of treatment.

Physician order: Unless clear written order with signature never administer a drug to patient .This may cause legal issues if harms the patients and its against medical law.

Types of medication order

There are mainly 4 orders like Routine order carried out daily,One time order never to be repeated,Stat order to be given at once,PRN (pro be Neta) administered when necessary
