Coagulation is a phenomenon in which liquid/sol converts into gel/solid by adding particular chemicals, called as chemical coagulants. General chemical coagulants used are Potash alum and ferric/ferrous salts. Humic acid, fulvic acid, chanrged compounds and small molecular weight hydrophilic compounds can be coagulated because of their charged nature. Hydrophobic compounds and neutral compounds cannot be coagulated.
