Answer #1

Ans) Staphylococcus is the only organism that cannot grow on the GSA. On ocassion, other cultures will happen to develop a mutation fr a nutritional requirement, preventing their growth on the GSA as well though this is rare.

- Organisms that can grow on glucose salts do not require growth factors. organisms that grow well on TSA plates but not GSA plates DO require growth factors.

- Organisms generally grow better on a complex medium such as TSA because they do not need to synthesize as many growth factors or other cell constituents.

- Echerichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa can all grow on EMB agar.

- E. coli and E. aerogenes can ferment lactose, but NOT P. aeruginosa. It cannot be determined whether Staphlococcus can ferment lactose because it cannot grow on EMB.
