Explain why the term ion-assisted etching is a more apt
description of dry etching processes which
rely on both chemical and physical etching effects, than is the
term reactive ion etching
How the reactive ion etching system works?
In reactive ion etching process, a gas mixture including several gases and plasma will introduce above the substrate to be etched . Function of plasma is to break gas molecules into ions. Those ions having sufficient energy to replace atoms in the surface of substrate will move towards substrate and bombard with atoms and replace the same. The replacement of atoms with ions will be physical process and it will be anisotropic.
Why ion-assisted etching term is better than the term reactive ion etching?
In this process upto breaking of gaseous molecules in to ions, the process is chemical. but after that bombardment of ions on the surface of substrate is physical. Hence in the reactive ion etching process, the ions are only assisting in the process. The are actually not reactive. We are not introducing reactive ions directly to substrate for etching process. As the name indicates , if we are introducing reactive ions the physical part of the reaction will be more isotropic(means substrate atom replacement with ions wiill be equally distributed). But here it is anisotropic.

Both the χ2 and the 1-way ANOVA allow one to study the effects of more than 2 levels of an independent variable on a dependent variable. Explain why we need the χ2 when we already have the ANOVA to handle more than one level of the independent variable. What does the χ2 allow us to do that the ANOVA does not?
Which statements listed below can explain why a chemical reaction does not take place? concentration of reactants is too low the temperature is too low not enough effective collisions are occurring some of these answers all of these answers For a chemical reaction the rate of the forward reaction is at a maximum when when the concentration of the reactants and products is the same a state of equilibrium is reached the reaction begins the concentration of products is greater...

According to Robert Trivers, why are men generally larger and more physically aggressive than women? Because women are more reproductively “valuable” than men, hence competition for mates is fiercer among men Because men invest more heavily in reproduction than women Because men secrete more testosterone Trivers’ theory does not speculate on the origin of the sex difference in size and physical aggression Although some women are interested in casual sex (short-term mating), research has suggested that there are differences in...
Sabrina Hoffman is founder and CEO of Golden Care, Inc., which owns and operates several assisted-living facilities. The facilities are apartment-style buildings with 25 to 30 one- or two-bedroom apartments. While each apartment has its own complete kitchen, in every building Golden Care offers communal dining options and an on-site nurse who is available 24 hours a day. Residents can choose monthly meal options that include one or two meals per day in the dining room. Residents who require nursing...
