Reaction 1 is an SN2 reaction. In SN2 reaction, inversion of configuration of the stereocenter participating in the reaction takes place. Hence, reaction 1 will yield P1 as the sole product.

Reaction 2 is an SN1 reaction. In this reaction, first, the bromide group leaves the molecule to give a secondary carbocation. Then, hydride shift from the neighboring carbon yields a more stable tertiary carbocation. Now, the planar carbocation gets attacked from both faces by methanol nucleophile to form P7 and P8 as products in 1 : 1 ratio.
