  1. A tribal elder from a local Indian reservation presents to the local clinic with symptoms of a lower respiratory infection. After reviewing a chest X-ray, the clinician orders a culture for Tuberculous. What media would this sputum culture be set up on? What special stain is used for the suspected organism? What obstacles does the laboratory face in processing, culturing and identifying the suspected pathogen? What do you this is the etiologic agent? Culture media is - Lowenstein-jensen media(L-J media)

Stain is- Ziehl-Neelsen staisn(z-n stain)

Obstricle- bactria grow only in that stain as these are acid fast bacilli and it take 6-7 day to grow

Etiological agent- Mycobacterium Tuberculosis

Difficulty in treating is- it requires long term treatment liike that of 6-8 month ,so regular treatment is taken and lots of people not able to do this inspite of that drug are free of cost
