Quants also called quantitative
analysts are professionals specialized in the development and
implementation of mathematical and statistical models intended to
solve financial and risk management problems. Quants usually
possess the knowledge in multi-disciplines such as
finance,economics, mathematics,statistics and IT. Today the role of
a quant is extended to different areas such as statistical
arbitrage,algorithmic trading, investment management and electronic
market making other than derivative pricing and risk management.
The quants are appointed mainly by large financial institutions
like commercial banks,insurance companies, hedge funds and
investment banks.
