PROBLEM 9-41 Statement: Figure P9-8 shows a compound epicyclic train. Gear 2 is driven at 800 rpm CCW and gear D is fixed to ground. The tooth numbers are indicated in the figure. Determine the speed and direction of gears 1 and 3. -1 rpm2--rad-min Units: Given: Tooth numbers: N 100 Ng 30 Np 60 Ng 120 Nc 72 NA24 Gear 2 speed e 800-rpm CCw Solution: See Figure P9-8 and Mathead file P0941. . Detemine the speed of the arm using the formula method for analyzing an epicyclic train. To start, choose a first and last gear that mesh with gears that have planetary motion. Let the first gear be A and last be D. Answer #1

I think answer should be Wf = W1 and Warm = W3.

And we will know this by reading the figure.

In case of arm and gear 3 , arm is connected to gear 3 , we know this by the size of shaft connected to 3 is same as arm . And shaft connecting gear 1and F is same . We can say the by the size and also by the dashed line which starts from F and ends on gear 1.
