Trade barriers to China can cost US to potentially spoiled bilateral relationships, trade war, higher retaliation and unfair treatment of US companies in China.

However the key benefits may include higher trade surplus, higher employment opportunities, higher import duty rveenues, higher government export push.

All in all trade barriers to China is net positive for US employees as the government proposes local manufacturing and subsidy for export which means higher employment generation and better career opportunities across locations.
