Sandra is a type 1 diabetic. She is 26 years old, 5’6”, 178 lbs, 29% body fat. Sandra wants to start attending spinning classes at her local gym to drop some weight. She also is interested in following a ketogenic diet in order to reduce her insulin dosage “I am tired of using needles”.

Her current diet is:

Breakfast: 1 cup of oatmeal , 1 apple, 2 whole egg omelet, 1 cup of coffee with 2 teaspoons of brown sugar

She injected 10 units of insulin before that meal. 2 hours after this meal her blood glucose was 172 mg/dl

Lunch: 1 can of diet coke, a big mac with fries, 1 cup of strawberry yogurt

She injected 12 units of insulin before that meal. 2 hours after this meal her blood glucose was 212 mg/dl.

Dinner: 6 oz steak, 1 cup mashed potato, 1 cup of white rice, 1 cup Caesar salad

She injected 16 units of insulin before this meal. 2 hours after this meal her blood glucose was 244 mg/dl.

Ketogenic diet is not useful for her .because ,her post pra dual blood sugar(sugar after 2 hrs of meal was very high than normal.Normal PPBS is below 140 mg/do.Her sugar result was 244 mg/do.In her case keto diet don't permit  the body to use proper insulin .so,body is unable to control blood sugar.This may lead to insulin resistance in her case. I advise to add cinnamon,fenugreek,bitter melon,liver etc in her diet.This will assist her for excellent blood sugar control without the occurrence of any complications.a carbohydrate reduced diet will help the patient to keep the body healthy and also it aid to decrease the blood sugar of the person.moreover,physical activity will aid to Increase sugar uptake in muscles not in tissues.This also enables to decrease the blood sugar level.spinning is good to reduce body weight but walking ,jogging and swimming are the best exercises for type 1 diabetes I suggest all aerobic exercise in which patient can choose according to their convenience inorder control diabetes.
