Superficial or areal Coefficient of expansion of steel is

2×7.2×10^-6 /°C = 1.44 ×10^-5/°C

So new area A = 100(1+1.44×10^-5×80)=100×(1.001152)

Or A = 100.1152 cm2

Ex-5

New volume V = 2000(1+ 900×10^-6×(5-20) = 1973 cm^3

Ex-8

From gas law V1/T1= V2/T2

So V2 = 22×(273+167)/(273+20) = 33.037 m3

Ex-9

As P1V1/T1= P2V2/T2

SO V2= (20×1/273)×90/1.5 = 4.395 l
