a.Polypharmacy-Polypharmacyis defined as simultaneouly use of multiple drug for a singe patients to treat single disease.
b. Bacteriostatic- Bacteriostatic agents are the agent which stop the growth or reproduction of bacteria , but it is not necessary by killing bacteria.
c. Bactericidal-Bactericidal agents are the agent which stop the growth or reproduction of bacteria ,by killing bacteria.
d. Aerobic- means in the presence of oxygen.
e. Anaerobic- means in the absence of oxygen
f. Broad Spectrum- Broad Spectrum antibiotics are the agent which act on both gram negative and gram positive bacteria.
g. Narrow Spectrum-Narrow Spectrum antibiotics are the agent which act on only gram negative bacteria.
h. Superinfection-occurence of infection even though already presence of earlier infection, especially in which who all are in broad spectrum antibiotics.
i. Nosocomial infection- infection which accquired from the hospital.
j. Resistant infection- infection which develop resistence against the treatment.
k. Opportunistic infection- Opportunistic infection caused by pathogens, which occur more often or more severely in immunocompromised person.
l. Antibiotic resistance-infection which develop resistence against the antibiotics and do not respond to the treatment
m. community-acquired infection- an infection acquired in the community.
n. community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA)- when an acquired infection, which is mostly caused by staphylococus aureus, do not respond or develop resistant against methicilin then it is called community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA).
o. Red man syndrome- it is anaphylactic reaction caused by the rapid infusion of glycopeptide antibiotics.
p. Stevens-Johnson syndrome- it is the disorder of skin which begins with painful red/purple rash that spread and form blister. it is cause by medication or infection.
q. CDAD- C defficile associated disease is the disruption of normal balance of flora in the intestine which is oftenly triggerd by the use of antibiotics.
r. Kernicterus- Kernicterus is a type of prevantable brain damage which occur in the neoborn who is suffering with jaundice.
s. Crystalluria – Crystalluria is the cloudiness of urine due to the presence of crystal in the urine
t. Peripheral neuropathy- damage of pheripheral nerves which carry the massages from the brain or spinal cord to the different part of the body.
u. Myopathy- it is a disoder of muscle which occur due to improper function of muscle fibre.
v. rhabdomyolysis- it is the syndrome which results from the death of muscle fibre caused by direct or indirect muscle injury
