1)Quasi institutional providers : the institutional continuum of long term care includes a range of facilities that often do not have a clearut distinctions yet these faccilities can be classified into independent living facilities which are nor truly institutions because they do not generally dleiver health care and custodial care providers that limit their services to social support and personal care and assisted living facilities and nursing homes here the first 2 categories are referred to as quasi institutions because clinically oriented services are wither non eexistent or minimum in these facilities. 2) institutional providers:these are the most visible sector of the long term care industry and institutional care generally connotes some degree of confinement to an institution because of a relatively high level dependency such institiutions include assisted living facilities , nursing homes, and continuing care retirement communities. 3)paraprofessionals : the long term care services heavily rely on paraprofessional caregivers who give most of the hands on personal care and assist patients with all ADLs and they also change bed linens and serve meals to patients and these includes certified nursing assistants and therapy , aides , personal care , attnedants and home health aides and they constitiute the largest group of health care workers in the long term care industry a d paraprofessionals positions are at the bottom of the organizational hierarchy and these workers typically care heavy workloads are inadequately paid and are often treated with little respect.. 4) skilled nursing care : a skilled nursing facility providerrs a full range of clinical long term care services from skilled nursing care to rehabilitation to assistance with all ADLs .5)Adminstrative professionals:every agency or organization requires at least one adminstrative professional to manage the organization the number and types of adminstrative professionals increase with the organizations size and complexity.6)physician clinician:the large and specialized facilities can afford to employ a full time physician, and physician play a central role in the medical care of patients other clinicans follow physicians order for prescribed medical, nursing , rehabilitation and dietary interventions most physicians practicing in the long term care field are generalists or family practitioners rather than specialists, 7) nurse clinician:the 2 main categories of nurses in long term care setting are registered nurse and licensed practical nurses all nurses must be licensed by the atate in which they practice the 2 main educational programs today for registered nurse are associate degree programs offered by community colleges or vocational technical schools and bachelor of science degree programs offered by 4 years colleges and universities etc.8) non physician practitioners: are clinical professionals who practice in many of the areas in which physicians practice but who do not have an MD or DO degree the 2 main types of NPP s who practice in long term care settings are nurse practitioners and physician assistants, this generalist trainning and emphasis on patient relationships make them particularly valuable in long term care caregivers.
