step 2: 2Al2O3(s)+2C(s) --> 3Al(s)+3CO2(g)
Net chemical equation is

4Al(OH)3 (s) + 2C(s) --->  3Al(s) + 3CO2(g) + 6H2O (l)
Now balancing both sides of the reaction, we get
24Al(OH)3(s) + 18C(s) ---> 24Al(s) + 18CO2(g)+ 36H2O(l)
