Audit standards are required to regulate the audit carried out by the auditor. These standards assure that auditor follow these standards to ensure that audit is carried out effectively and compliance is made. Audit standards specify certain principles to be followed while carrying out professional audit function.
These standards also guides the auditor to define the objectives and scope of the audit in different circumstances. Overall, to carry out effective and efficient audit and build trust among stakeholders, audit standards are required.
