net present value = present value of the annual net cash flow - initial investment

annual net cash flow = $29500 - $10300 = $19200

therefore,

net present value = ($19200 x PVAF) - $104100

=($19200 x 4.21236) - $104100

= -$23223

where,

PVAF(6%,5) = 4.21236

the company should not buy the machine as the NPV is negative.

annual net cash flow = ($29500 + $7100) - ($10300 - $2800) = $29100

therefore,

net present value = ($29100 x PVAF) - $104100

=($29100 x 4.21236) - $104100

= $18480

where,

PVAF(6%,5) = 4.21236
