Mr. Hagrid has a history of allergic rhinitis with rhinorrhea, itching throat, watery eyes, and sneezing when in the presence of cats. His co-worker Mr. Filch, who lives and works at the boarding school, owns a cat named "Mrs. Norris", who seems to follow him everywhere. Because Mr. Hagrid and Mr. Filch work together every day, Mr. Hagrid has been taking an antihistamine for several months, but this regimen does not seem to be working as well as it once did. 1. What do you tell Mr. Hagrid about drug tolerance with antihistamines and how can this be avoided? 2. Would you as a health care professional suggest that Mr. Hagrid use an oral antihistamine or use an oral decongestant to treat his symptoms? Explain why you would chose one instead of the other.

1) + I will tell Mr. Hagrid about drug tolerence with anti-histamines, that after prolong useage anti-histamine may develop clinical tolerence: * Doug tolerence of antihistamince can be avoided by : increasing the dove or the drug discontinued for a shorter period ( 3 to 14 days) before resuming theraphy 2) * As a health care professional, I suggest to Mr. - Hagoidi to, use an Oral anti-histamine. They work by Stopping the body forming (66) making histamine. # Decongestant can be used only 'over a shorti period, usually no longer than three days, to relieve a Stuffy nose and Sinus, pressure poolong useage .. can cause rebound effect . . * So, I suggest oral anti-histamines to Mr.Hagoid.
