Why have management consulting operations created problems for the public accounting industry? How has Sarbanes-Oxley affected these problems?

Management consulting operations dominated the Accounting and auditing firms in the 1990’s. The expenses incurred to the consulting firms is more than auditing firms. Consulting Firms have started to appear more prominent than CPA firms. The role of accounting firms is minimized compared to consulting firms. Therefore, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act ( SOX ) implemented some restrictions on the consulting auditing firms. After SOX, many accounting firms has stopped their consulting service just to avoid the conflict of interest. The following are the restrictions for the accounting firm which perform audit for the public company
