Write an absentee policy that addresses hourly workers arriving late, leaving early and missing entire scheduled shifts. Include disciplinary steps up to and including termination. Include an incentive plan for “perfect attendance”; define “perfect attendance”. You are Big Boss and can do whatever you want, as long as you do not break any laws. Keep in mind that you cannot punish anyone into excellent performance.

Our employee attendance policy covers the expectations of the management about the timing and scheduling of the employees at the work place. This policy enables the employees to be punctual and helps them to be efficient at the work place. Scope

Policy elements

Perfect attendance: Perfect attendance refers to the better collaboration with the employer and the manager. The employee should ensure that he is punctual and consistent to the schedule which he and his manager has been agreed upon. The perfect attendance provides a good reason for the employee absenteeism. The practice of employees which can ensure good attendance includes the following

  • Reporting to work consistently.
  • Being at work and leaving from work at the scheduled time.
  • Being present mentally and physically at the work place during the working hours.
  • Notifying the manager with valid reason about leave, late coming, early leaving etc.

Absenteeism can be referred to frequent absence of the employee from his responsibilities at the work place. This may include taking leaves without any justifiable reason. from an employee’s job responsibilities. This includes not coming to work frequently or taking excessive sick leave without being able to submit doctor’s notes.

Tardiness is the factor which refers to the employee coming to office lately, taking longer breaks and permissions, leaving earlier from work without any justifiable reason.

This policy generates awareness in the employees that he is self responsible to be punctual and in monitoring the timings he is maintain in the work place.

Incentives for the Perfect attendance

  • Rewards and recognition for being consistent reporting
  • Employee of the year memorandum for the maintenance of perfect attendance

Manager’s responsibility

The management is authorized enough to take disciplinary actions against the employee who is making consistent failure in coping with this policy. The employees may be subjected to disciplinary actions as follows

  • Counseling for the regularly inconsistent employee.
  • Half day loss of pay if the employee remain inconsistent more than three days in a month,
  • Sick leaves without the doctor notification may not be approved.
