a) The numbre of moles of propane = mass of propane / molar mass of propane

The number of moles of propane = 51.8 g / 44.1 g/mol = 1.17 mole

Therefore, the number of moles of propane = 1.17 mol

b) 1 mole of propane contains 3 mole of C so

1.17 mole of propane will conatiai

= 1.17 mole of propane *(3 mole of C / 1 mole of propane)

= 3.51 mole of C

mass of 1 mole of C = 12.0107 g

so the mass of 3.51 mole of C = 42.2 g

Therefore, the mass of carbon would be 42.2 g
