Answer #1

         3Ni2+(aq) + 2CO(s) \rightarrow 2Co3+ (aq) +3Ni(s)

3Ni2+(aq) \rightarrow 3Ni(s) reduction

2CO(s) \rightarrow 2Co3+ (aq)   oxidation

cobalt oxidation number increases from 0 to +3 . so it is oxidation.

Oxidized substance cobalt. A substance which participate in oxidation reaction is called reducing agent.

the reducing agent is cobalt

in this equation nickel oxidation number decreases from +2 to 0. So it is reduction .

the reduced substance.    Ni+2 . The substance which participate in reduction reaction is called oxidicing agent.

the oxidizing agent Ni+2
