Oxidation half reaction: Fe2+ Fe3+ + e

Reduction half reaction: MnO4- Mn2+

Balancing O with H2O: MnO4- Mn2+ + 4 H2O

Balancing H with H+ : MnO4- + 8 H+ Mn2+ + 4 H2O

Now we balance the charge using electrons(e): MnO4- + 8 H+ + 5e Mn2+ + 4 H2O

We add the reduction half reaction with 5 times the oxidation half rreaction to get balanced equation:

MnO4- + 8 H+ + 5 Fe2+ Mn2+ + 4 H2O + 5 Fe3+
