11. Mass of water = (38.7 -11.7) g = 27 g

12. Mass of NaHCO3 = (40.0 - 38.7) g = 1.3 g

13. Heat of reaction = total mass of solution × specific heat capacity of solution × temperature change = 28.3 g × 4.18 J/g 0 C × (20.1- 20.5) 0 C = - 47.3 J

14. Moles of NaHCO3 = mass / molar mass = 1.3 g/ (84 g/ mole) = 0.0155 mole

15. Molar enthalpy of solution = - 47.3 J/ (0.0155 mole) = - 3052 J/ mole = - 3.052 kJ/ mole

Trial #2:

11. Mass of water = (38.9 - 11.9) g = 27 g

12. Mass of NaHCO3 = ( 40.3 - 38.9) g = 1.4 g

13. Heat of reaction = 28.4 × 4.18 × (20.7 - 21.2) J = - 59.356 J

14. Moles of NaHCO3 = 1.4/ 84 mole = 0.0167 mole
