 c. Since Steve is a single parent and sole income earner, he is required to place Emily in day care while he is at work. Steve is concerned about the effects of day care on Emily’s development. What can the nurse practitioner teach Steve about child care?

Regularly day care will start from 12months or older due to single parent may not able to take care of the child but so he need place in day care but need observe the thing how they are taking care of the baby, why because normally in day care placed children and toddlers but for infant baby need to take additional care

  • Steve needs spent some time with Emily by playing with her trying communicating with her facial expression so that love and affection bondage will occurred
  • Try to speak with baby whenever doing something they will understand your words but they won’t communicate with you
  • Steve need to good hand hygienic practice before touching the baby or giving milk why because infants lees immunity compare to adults they will early prone to infection if fail practice good aseptic precautions
  • After every feed of the baby need burb the back side so gas will come out its prevent vomiting, and don’t put her in sleep after immediate feeding 10-15 minutes gap burp well
  • Vaccines need administered on time, single parent may chance of missing vaccine are high due to his work and child care may be unable to balance
  • Don’t keep medicine or sharp objects near to child
  • Bathing and skin care need do with care full, bathing needs to done Lukewarm water
  • A Nurse must provide a psychological support to the parent he can take care of the baby by love and affection
  • Time to time toilet cleaning remove diaper as baby pass motion and urine its keep long chances of infection may develop UTI
  • Need wrap the baby to maintain a temperature try to check temperature once in day infants are chance of hypothermia more
  • Need to provide healthy and neat semisolid food for baby growth
  • Provide oral care
  • Sleep a regular time, so that babies sleep timings continue it will be habitual to the baby, infants are required daily 10 -12 hours of sleep is required so need to maintain good sleep for baby.
