Resistance of resistor 1 = R1

Resistance of resistor 2 = R2

R1 > R2

The resistors are connected in series with a power supply.

As the resistors are connected in series the current flowing through both the resistors is same as the current flowing the circuit.

Current flowing through the circuit = I

Current flowing through R1 = I1 = I

Current flowing through R2 = I2 = I

Voltage difference across R1 = V1

V1 = I1R1

V1 = IR1

Voltage difference across R2 = V2

V2 = I2R2

V2 = IR2

We know that R1 > R2

Multiplying both sides by 'I'

IR1 > IR2

V1 > V2

The voltage drop across R1 is greater than the voltage drop across R2

2) The greatest voltage difference is across R1
