Answer #1

Insurance expense for 1 year = $648

Insurance expense for 5 months of year 20-1 (August to December) = 648 x 5/12

= $270

Insurance expense for 7 months of year 20-2 (January to July) = 648 x 7/12

= $378

Prepaid insurance on Dec 31, year 20-1 = Insurance premium paid - Insurance expense for year 20-1

= 648 - 270

= $378

year Insurance expense Prepaid insurance (Dec. 31)
20-1 270 378
20-2 378 0
Total expense $648
