Effect of DCMU and sodium azide on Chlamydomonas? We did an experiment where we had Chlamydomonas untreated, with either DCMU or sodium azide, put it in like a chamber (half of the chamber is covered by aluminum so no light and the other side had light) and see what happened. Untreated Chlamydomonas move to either the side with light or side covered with aluminum but DCMU and Sodium Azide experiments failed.

My hypothesis on the ability of DCMU and sodium azide on mobility in Chlamydomonas?

Answer #1

DCMU is a very powerful and potent inhibitor of photosynthesis. DCMU blocks the electron flow by binding to the plastoquinone binding system in the photosystem II. Sodium azide prevents the action of cytoskeletal filaments thereby preventing locomotion in chylamydomonas. Therefore, the chlamydomonas cells treated with DCMU and sodium azide will have decreased motility than the untreated cells.

She saw the gastroenterologist about every 30 or 60 days. When we asked the physician why our mother had to come in on a continuous basis, his response was “acid reflux.” She was taking a proton pump inhibitor for her acid reflux. Our mother had an endoscopy of her upper gastrointestinal tract in September 2006....
